About Clinical Research Studies

Clinical Research Studies Are the Key to Advancing Treatments for All Conditions, Including Type 2 Diabetes.

A clinical research study is designed to answer questions about the safety and effectiveness of a potential new procedure. These studies must be performed before a new procedure can be approved for use in patients.

Right now, there are nearly 400,000 clinical studies in progress all over the world.

For each research study, researchers develop eligibility criteria, such as age, gender, previous treatment history, and other medical conditions. It is important to test medications and medical devices/procedures in the people they are meant to help, and to conduct research in a variety of people because different people may respond differently to treatments.

Participants will be selected based on the eligibility criteria and the number of participants needed by the researchers.

Taking part in a clinical research study can offer several benefits including:

Getting actively involved in your own healthcare

Having access to potential new procedures

Having access to specialists working on the condition being studied

Helping others by possibly progressing medical research
